December 08, 2009 - UPS

UPS located on 150 Plan Way in Warwick was pleased to host Mayor Avedisian and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development on December 8, 2009 for our One- on-One program.
The Mayor and members of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development met with Thomas McGovern, Operations Manager, Donald Cragan, Package Division Manager and Neal Rossi, Public Affairs Manager.
While on tour Mayor Avedisian learned about the various devices the company uses everyday such as the handheld Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD), carried by every UPS driver. This device was developed to immediately record and upload delivery information to the UPS network. UPS, since using these handheld devices, has added a tracking functionality to its website that allows customers to track packages in transport. Today UPS.com receives millions of online tracking requests daily.
Founded in 1907, UPS first became known as a messenger company in the United States. Today, they are one of the most recognized and admired brands in the world, and are considered one of the largest privately held companies in the United States. Mayor Avedisian was proud to learn more about the operations and facility and is proud that they call Warwick home. Please visit their website for more information www.ups.com
