United Printing - Kick off of the One-on-One Program.

Mayor Scott Avedisian and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development recently kicked off the "One on One" Business Program, an economic development-based initiative in which the Mayor and Department representatives will visit and tour a particular company once each month. These visits will afford business owners and their employees an opportunity to meet personally with city officials to discuss city matters and potential areas of concern.
The program is also meant to help showcase the city's diverse economic development base, which includes manufacturing, new developments, an eclectic mix of small businesses, the hospitality industry, office complexes, and revitalization projects.

The Mayor's first visit, on October 5, was to United Printing, a family-owned business located on Colorado Avenue. The company had been awarded the bid to produce a comprehensive Warwick Restaurant Guide. During the Mayor's visit, company officials walked him through the design and production process. The Mayor also had the chance to meet firsthand with workers, who discussed their responsibilities and demonstrated the sophisticated equipment that is used at the facility.
Avedisian's goal is to tour companies in each of the city's nine wards. Future visits include Eaton Aerospace Manufacturing in November, as well as visits to newly remodeled facilities; modern, innovative hotels; a family-run farm; and a recently revitalized area that serves as a gateway to one of Warwick's historic villages.

"Our first visit was very productive, and gave us additional insights into concerns and challenges that local small business owners are facing," Avedisian said. "I thank United Printing for hosting us and for the warm welcome we received. I am looking forward to our monthly, 'one-on-one' sessions with Warwick companies so that we, as a community, can better serve both our businesses and their customers."
