February 18, 2010 - T-Shirt City

AAA

For February’s One-on-One program, Mayor Avedisian and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development stepped into the role of visitor and explored T-shirt City’s new location at 1800 Post Road.

T-shirt City first opened its doors in 1981 and has been an integral part of the Warwick landscape in various capacities, including locations at the old Rocky Point, Rhode Island Mall and TF Green Airport. Proprietor, Karen Canis offers an extensive line of sports memorabilia that include custom shirts and hats, Rhode Island souvenirs, gifts and collectibles. Also available is coffee syrup, Del’s Lemonade, Rhode Island Rocks and the trivia game Rhode, as well as many other items that are unique to Rhode Island.

After touring the new shop Mayor Avedisian, Lauren Slocum from the Central RI Chamber of Commerce and Karen Jedson from Warwick’s Department of Tourism, Culture and Development participated in a ribbon cutting to commemorate the “official” opening of the new location. T-Shirt City is the perfect place to rekindle old memories by browsing at items that feature historical landmarks such as the Conimicut Point and Warwick Neck Lighthouses, Rocky Point, the Warwick Musical Theater, the Meadowbrook Cinemas and an assortment of items depicting the Blizzard of 78’.
