March 6, 2008 - Greenwich Mills

The latest stop on Mayor Scott Avedisian's One-on-One tour was the Greenwich Mills facility, located at 42 Ladd Street in East Greenwich. This former home to industrial companies, including Textron and the Boston Wire Stitch Company (later Stanley Bostitch), was purchased in 2004 by P&A Realty and Gem Investments. Realizing that the local area had evolved from a manufacturing center to a quaint bedroom community, the new owners opted to renovate the mill and make it a high end commercial center.

To date, nearly half of the mill has been converted, with final completion scheduled for 2009. Once completed, the mill will boast nearly 100,000 square feet of commercial office space. Among other attractive qualities, the mill location offers views of Narragansett Bay, Greenwich Bay, and Historic East Greenwich; easy access to Interstate 95 and downtown Providence; a new communications infrastructure, allowing high-speed internet and telecom availability from multiple vendors; new HVAC in all units; and ample parking.
During his visit Mayor Avedisian had a tour of the complex and spoke with various small-business owners who occupy the newly renovated office spaces. The Mayor was impressed by the Mill's transformation and its great potential to attract new businesses to the area.
