June 20, 2008 - Family Tree Schoolage Program

A Family Tree School Age Program was a recent participant in Mayor Scott Avedisian's One on One program. Mayor Avedisian congratulated Erica Saccoccio and Christine Alexander on their overwhelming success of their program, which has led to the opening of another location in Warwick. The original center is located at 2339 West Shore Rd and the newest location Family Tree II is located at 126 Edythe Street.
Erica and Christine started A Family Tree School Age Program in the early part of 2008 as a before and after school enrichment center which caters to children ages 5-14 and offers childcare to working families. The program offers a safe haven to children of working parents during the school year and summer time, and offers opportunities to play and learn. Both facilities offer activities that include interest clubs, dance, art, drama, basketball- as well as instruction in life skills such as cooking, household chores and money management. There are off-site field trips, and the center frequently features community members who give presentations on a wide variety of topics.
All employees are extensively trained under the guidelines of the National After School Association, and have further training in CPR, First Aid, classroom management, age appropriate curriculum, National After School Accreditation standards, and Early Learning Standards. The Center is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, with transportation available.
