November 27, 2007 - Eaton Aerospace Manufacturing

Claflin Company

In October of 2007, Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development kicked off their new economic development intiative, the "One-on-One" Program, with a visit to United Printing. November's destination was Eaton Aerospace Manufacturing, which specializes in the production of sealing components for large auto and aerospace manufacturers, including some major airlines and the U.S. Government.

Despite difficult economic times, Eaton continues to prosper: While many other companies are being forced to lay off workers, Eaton is planning to hire up to 20 new employees this year. Eaton's employees are very active in the community, sponsoring blood drives and volunteering as mentors for Warwick school children. In fact, earlier this year, they donated $20,000 to the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership.

During his Eaton visit, Mayor Avedisian listened to a presentation by the plant manager; this presentation was followed by a question-and-answer session. Afterwards, the Mayor toured the facility and talked with several workers about their respective duties. The Mayor and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development look forward to these visits as means to better serve local businesses and their customers. Next month's stop will be the original Gregg's restaurant on Post Road.
